Wireless Security Systems: Decades of Public and Personal Support
Amrisa Bhagwandin
The use of surveillance cameras in public places is rumored to have begun in New York City in the late 1960s. Police officers set up cameras near City Hall and monitored them frequently in order to secure the politically significant area. Precincts were using closed circuit television systems and the practice spread to other large cities. The emergence of analog technology using video cassette recorders is what really caught the attention of consumers. Owners of businesses such as gas stations, stores and banks, which were prone to robbery, understood how precious a security camera system could be since they offered recorded evidence.
Over the years, the range of use for wireless security cameras has expanded greatly. Sure, television show producers have capitalized on their ability to transform into spyware in order to create reality shows, but outdoor wireless security cameras have helped monitor day to day activities almost everywhere in public. Because of this, crime ridden areas have drastically improved and people feel much safer and less inclined to misbehave since cameras are watching. Numerous amounts of trials and cases pertaining to theft, abuse, murder, etc., have been solved due to the undeniable evidence provided by wireless security cameras.
After the normality of public security cameras was established, people began personalizing the use of outdoor security cameras by installing them at home. The emergence of digital wireless cameras and dummy security cameras also changed a lot about the way businesses and individuals used them. Digital wireless camera signals can’t be picked up by neighbors and therefore people feel completely confident when installing them to monitor the outsides of their homes. Although they can be expensive, these cameras guarantee high quality video and audio, as well as the ability to set up multiple receivers for one device. Apart from the obvious purpose of securing their homes, individual non-business owning consumers have used outdoor wireless security systems to monitor pools and even their pets.
Today, digital surveillance systems can definitely be found anywhere people are, especially places that are frequented by many. Stadiums, schools, government and buildings, hospitals, banks, and even individual ATMs, are secured by wireless security cameras. The development of these cameras has lead to a society that feels safer in public and private. Businesses and their employees both feel well protected knowing that all situations are monitored by careful eyes, and those who have installed systems at home, are assured theability to see outside even when they are within safe walls.
